The UMP (Universale Maschinenpistole (German for "Universal Submachine Gun") is a submachine developed and manufactured by Heckler & Koch.

The submachine H & K MP5 range are the most renowned among law enforcement bodies and military elite from around the world for its precision, quality and reliability. However, H & K needed a new weapon, capable of the same services but cheaper. This weapon has been the UMP. Considered the sister of the HK MP5 is somewhat slower, more powerful, lighter and with a little less ammo (5 shots less), but higher caliber, the .45 ACP with a capacity of 25 shots.

The UMP operates in automatic mode (600 / 700 rounds per minute), semiautomatic and burst 2 and 3 shots (optional). All controls are ambidextrous. It is equipped with four Picatinny rails, three in the front, two sides to equip tactical laser or flashlight, and one below to connect a grip (handle) vertical. Although a versatile weapon both in open and for CQB action, in these last which stands as high than other submachine gun, its short size coupled with its low weight and high stopping power thanks to its 45 cal make it a reliable weapon for indoor and low maneuverability
